Design Factor Wk 3 - Free Mini Kit!

I am back once again with another freebie kit for you! As with the last 2 kits, this is the kit I created for Challenge #3 of the Design Factor design challenge over at Digi Scrap Connect.

This week our task was to work with a neutral monochromatic color scheme for the papers then add a touch of one or two bright colors to the elements. We were allowed to use up to 5 CU items in the kit. This week I tried to go with a non-themed kit because I very rarely make kits like that so I kinda struggled because of my own restriction rather than the challenge itself :) All the same, I'm rather pleased with the end result and I hope you enjoy it too!

Download HERE

Be sure to upload any layouts that you create using this kit to the Scrapping Fairytales gallery so I can leave you some love, and also be sure to check out the other 70 or so kits from challenge #3 HERE.

Enjoy!

Design Factor Wk 2 - Free Mini Kit!

As always, please excuse my neglected blog layout :)

I am back again to give you another freebie kit as the kit I created for Challenge #2 of the Design Factor design challenge over at Digi Scrap Connect.

This week our task was to focus on our patterned papers where we had to hand-draw (or machine-draw) things to create at least 6 patterned papers. Once again, we weren't allowed to use any CU products, with the exception of textures for the papers or elements and also CU fonts were okay for elements only. After spending WAY too long finalizing my theme and colour scheme (as well as my objects), I finally came up with this sweet little kit.

Download HERE

Be sure to upload any layouts that you create using this kit to the Scrapping Fairytales gallery so I can leave you some love, and also be sure to check out the other 70+ kits from challenge #2 HERE.

Enjoy!

Designer Survivor - In Your Eyes - Kit Freebie!

Thanks so much for all of your votes. Unfortunately, we didn't win immunity so I will be fighting along with 11 other contestants for one of the remaining 6 positions in next weeks challenge. *fingers crossed*

This week's challenge was to create an "Emotional" kit. Each member of the team had to select an emotion and a single colour that they associate with that emotion and create a mini-kit consisting of 8 papers and 12-15 elements using only that single colour (in various shades). No other colours were allowed (including the neutrals like black, white and brown) but you were allowed to add a little bit of metal if needed. Each mini-kit then had to be able to combine together as a team to make a single kit with a common theme.

My team decided to create soft, beautiful and magical sort of kits describing the emotions we experience when we look into our loved ones' eyes. Jewel of Mad Genius Designs chose blue for the deep love she feels when she looks into her son's blue eyes. Wendy from Busy Mama Designs chose orange to reflect the cheerfulness her family felt after a recent very successful surprise party. Amanda from Amagination chose purple for the passion she feels when she gazes into her husband’s eyes. I chose pink to portray the wonder with which my daughter sees the world.

Here is my part:

For more details and to download all four parts, click HERE. Note: links will be removed after Tribal Council on Friday. After that, my part will be going in my stores for $2 (well, 68c with the 66% off sale until the end of August).

Enjoy!

ETA: Although the mini kit is already in my stores, for ONE DAY ONLY I will be offering it here for free. If you like the mini kit, make sure you grab the free brag book mini album in my next post and don't forget to vote for Snuggle Berry Pie Designs to win immunity from elimination this week which can be done HERE.

Designer Survivor - Week 2

I've been soooo busy over the last week that I haven't had a chance to update you on what is going on.... I am soooo sorry that I didn't get a chance to tell you all about last week's Designer Survivor collab kit because it was incredible! We were given a bunch of bright fun colours and had to create a kit inspired by Dr Seuss! As you can imagine, the results were a whole lot of fun! I was on the White team and we went for a birthday-themed kit called "Oh, the candles you'll blow!". I hope everyone was able to find their own way over to the kits and download them. Unfortunately, the links have been taken down for the kit from my team but there are still quite a lot of the other teams that still have their links available so you should rush on over HERE to collect them whilst they are still available!

Following on from that, a couple of people were eliminated (I was out of town for my sister's baby shower so missed all of the action) then we were shuffled around into four new teams. I am now part of the "Strings Team". Our next Reward Challenge was to create a Vintage Fall Paper Pack in 24 hours using our own colour scheme. My team created a gorgeous pack called "Falling Into Autumn" but we didn't rustle up enough votes so didn't win immunity (nor the extremely generous reward of a HEAP of CU items) so we'll be fighting for our place again this week. You can pick up our paper pack along with the other team's packs HERE.

Which brings us to the main challenge for this week. We were given a colour palette and a theme of "Gone Camping" and had to use mostly natural items for the elements. My team created an awesome kit called "Wild Adventures". I think my team has done a great job! We have 32 papers, a complete alpha and over 90 elements!

The best part about this week of the challenge for you is that all four teams had the same theme and colour scheme so all 4 kits should combine together nicely to make a SUPER-MEGA Camping Kit! You can download our kit and the other three kits from the gallery at Brownie Scraps HERE.

Hopefully I won't be voted off "Extraction Island" at Tribal Council on Friday, and will be able to present you with another fabulous freebie kit next week!

Enjoy!

Just "Plane" Cute - S4H/S4O Kit Freebie!!!

Well, I made it through to the final round of The Next Best Thing designer contest which means I have another free kit for you!

For this week's challenge, we were allowed to use any colours and theme with the twist being that we had to also create at least one CU item to give away as a freebie. For my CU freebie, check out the next post.

This week, one of my sisters informed me that her friend was due to have her baby in the next week or so. I had promised to make the birth announcements a while ago and was shocked at how quickly the time had passed (and that I hadn't even thought about the kit I would use). So, this final challenge was the perfect opportunity to get stuck into this kit! The daddy-to-be is an aircraft mechanic so the cute little planes will be perfect for the birth announcement. They would also be great for scrapping babies and kids layouts as well as little boy invitations and cards. I think it's pretty cute but it seems to be lacking something to make it "great". Anyway, it's a freebie so help yourself and enjoy!

Drop shadows are for preview only.

Download 'Just Plane Cute':
via The Next Best Thing contest at Digital Scrap Ink (free registration required):
* Part 1 of 2 (62Mb)
* Part 2 of 2 (64Mb)

In addition to creating the kit, we also had to create at least one CU item and use it in the kit. For a preview of the Freebie CU Items (and the link of where to download them), check out my next post :)

I hope you enjoy using this kit as much as I enjoyed creating it. Feel free to leave a comment on the kit (in the gallery at Digital Scrap Ink) and I'll let you know on July 4th how I went in the contest! Unfortunately, I don't think this week's kit is bright and noticeable enough to ultimately "win" the contest, but we'll have to wait and see :) Thanks to everyone who has commented on the previous kits and encouraged me along the way!

Enjoy!

Funky Tweens - S4H/S4O Kit Freebie!!!

I made it through to the third round of The Next Best Thing designer contest which means I have another free kit for you this week!

For this week's challenge, we were given the following swatch and had to work with at least 3 of the colours.

My initial thought was of how I would *never* personally choose such bright colours but as I started working with them, I really fell in love with the colour scheme!!!

The colours reminded me of the funky outfits and fun activities that the "tweens" get up to these days. So, with a bit of input from my tween-aged nieces, I am quite proud to present to you this 'Funky Tweens' kit :)

Drop shadows are for preview only.

Download 'Funky Tweens':
via The Next Best Thing contest at Digital Scrap Ink (free registration required):
* Papers (48.3Mb)
* Elements (18.2Mb)

In addition to creating the kit, we also had to create a Quick Page. For a preview of the Freebie QP (and the link of where to download it), check out my next post :)

I hope you enjoy using this kit as much as I enjoyed creating it. Please leave a comment on the kit (in the gallery at Digital Scrap Ink) so that I can be put through to the next round of the competition and you can get more weeks of free kits!

Vegetable Garden - S4H/S4O Kit Freebie!!!

Well I made it through the first round of The Next Best Thing designer contest which means I have another free kit for you this week!

The task for this round was to create a kit that caters for people aged 25+. For me this was rather challenging because I LOVE to make cute little girl kits, so I put my thinking cap on (and got one of my sisters also thinking) and came up with a couple of great ideas. I won't tell you what the others ideas were in case I need to make another "25+" sort of kit in the future. Anyway, after creating some elements for one of the other themes (which I really wanted to work on), I couldn't decide on an appropriate colour scheme so went for the veggie patch theme because the colours were much more obvious.

Drop shadows are for preview only.

Download 'Vegetable Garden':
via The Next Best Thing contest at Digital Scrap Ink (free registration required):
* Papers (36.3Mb)
* Elements (18.7Mb)

14 designers were put through to the second round so unless someone drops out, there should be 14 kits available for you to download for free! You can grab the other kits HERE! Also, if you haven't grabbed the kits from last week, you will need to grab them ASAP before everyone takes their links down. Last week's free kits can be found HERE!

I hope you enjoy using this kit as much as I enjoyed creating it. Please leave a comment on the kit (in the gallery at Digital Scrap Ink) so that I can be put through to the next round of the competition and you can get more weeks of free kits!

Enjoy!

Fun Park - S4H/S4O Sampler Kit Freebie!!!

This is the final week of the design challenge at Brownie Scraps. We were given a choice of 4 photos and had to use one of them as inspiration for our kit. After starting with a "Funky Flowers" theme (based on the cushions on the couch in one of the photos), I got through designing one flower and was bored with the kit. I then took a closer look at the colours I was using, and thought that they would go nicely as a Carnival/Theme Park style of kit.

Once I started designing, I fell in love with the theme and the elements that I could make with it and I put together a whole heap of gorgeous elements and papers. At the same time, I was accepted as a designer for the Haven Designz store so I am providing you with a sampler of this Fun Park kit and will be releasing the full kit in my new store on June 1st. Happy Hippo - S4H/S4O Kit Freebie!!!

When my daughter was a newborn, it seemed like she was constantly hungry (and I was constantly feeding) so we affectionately referred to her as our "hungry, hungry hippo" and bought her a variety of toys and outfits with hippos on them.

For this week's kit I had a lot of trouble coming up with a "baby girl" themed kit using such bright colours. After 4 days of thinking time, I stumbled across one of my 14 month old daughter's toys, and my theme was instantly decided! The toy was a green stuffed hippo with a pink and yellow flower stitched onto his behind. The colours were almost exactly what I was looking for and the story behind the toy linked it to the "Baby Girl" theme, so "Happy the Hippy Hippo" became the inspiration for my kit!

For those of you who are not so keen on extracting photos, I have also included an optional head frame on each of the bodies.

6x solid papers
4x patterned papers
13x family members (headless)

Download "Familiar Faces" here:
*** link removed (details below) *** (57Mb)

EDITED TO ADD:
After re-reading the details of the challenge at Brownie Scraps (for which I have been creating these weekly kits), I have discovered that I am meant to be forwarding any traffic to the forum at Brownie Scraps to download the kits rather than giving the link directly to download my kit. Because of this, please head on over to Brownie Scraps, register to the forum and download this kit and about 30 others. If you get in quick, you can also grab the kits from last week as well (about another 33 kits)!!

Links here:
* Go directly to my kit, 'Familiar Faces' (registration required)
* See all of the kits at Brownie Scraps (registration required)

I am really happy with how this kit has turned out (keeping in mind that it is only my 3rd kit ever), and I found it really hard to stop creating more and more elements!!! I may just have to put together an add-on in the future with some of the extra elements :)

Enjoy!

Baby Dino - S4H/S4O Kit Freebie!!!

Another day and another free kit to give away! For this week's designer challenge, we were given the choice of two palettes and instructed to try and focus on the elements for the kit. I chose the palette with the cute (and baby-boyish) blues and greens which was perfect for creating a baby dinosaur kit!

This kit contains 14 papers, 20 elements and an uppercase alpha (with a few punctuation marks such as " , ! . &").

Download Here:

I wasn't happy with the original TRex, so I made him a little better (so he no longer looks like a kangaroo!). You can download the new TRex HERE.

If you download this kit, don't forget to leave a message and let me know the link to any layouts in your gallery because I would love to see how it has been used.

Come back again next week for a new free kit :)

You're Still The One - S4H/S4O Kit Freebie!!!

I am currently taking part in the Unbaked Brownie Mix Challenge over at Brownie Scraps. This means that I will be creating a new kit each week for the next 6 weeks. The good news for you is that I will be giving away each of these kits for free!!

This week's challenge was to create a kit based on one of four provided palettes. I decided to use the palette with the most colour which resulted in the following kit:

To help you to see what can be done with this kit, here is an example layout that I put together.

If anyone is interested, I can turn the above layout into a Quick Page for you. Just post a comment on this blog requesting the QP and I will create and upload the QP and post a link in this blog.

So, here is the important part of the post where you get to actually download stuff :)

"You're Still The One" kit by Snuggle Berry Pie Designs
* Papers (51Mb)
* Elements (31Mb)

Enjoy and please leave me a message if you download it. Thanks :)

The other great news is that 65 people signed up for this challenge, so assuming that everyone creates a kit this week, you should be able to download up to 65 kits for free!!! Check out the
Unbaked Brownie Mix Forum from Sunday night for links to all of the free kits.

Happy scrapping and I will be back next week with a new kit :)
